Description
The Visionaire Apartments, located in Praça da Figueira, are a contemporary renovation of a 16th century merchant's house, full of wood, tapestries, printed textiles, tiles and pottery, mixing Portuguese style with African, Asian and Oriental influences.
The challenge given to Boa Safra was to create a bookcase in the living room that incorporated objects and books from all over the world.
Rita Macedo e Cunha designed the bookcase and chose pine wood to contrast with the existing hardwoods and serve as a neutral support for all these historical pieces and books. In this straight-lined bookcase, the designer created several misalignments between the sides as well as the non-constant use of the back to break up the monotony and highlight some of the pieces.
